Descriptif :

SPOP Is a research project started in March 2012 until 2015.
It is funded by ANR, the French National Agency for Research, under the programme Agrobiosphere 2011.
It aims at providing scientific knowledge on the diverse oil palm cropping systems in Indonesia and Cameroon, and on their social, economic and environmental impacts.
This knowledge will be built on field surveys, indicator construction and field testing, and land use modelling.
In the context of global changes and increasing constraints on farmers, a focus point will be to investigate the perception of these global changes and constraints by the local population and their actual repercussions in terms of farming practices and room for improvement.
This knowledge should help identify best practices, adaptation strategies, and improvement needs for a sustainable certification.
SPOP project is a collaboration consortium of four research institutes (click on the partners logo below) with 15 researchers and 2 Ph.D. students involved.

SPOP is regroups four main research partner (CIRAD, INRA, IRD, CIFOR) and is coordinated by CIRAD : Cécile Bessou and Alain Rival,
